Make America PURPLE

Red States and Blue States have become a mainstay of the American lexicon. Boil everything down and that is the root of the problem in that we should be Purple. Not that everyone should share the same beliefs. But it needs to be about US not We and Them. Stop being part of the silent majority. Engage in conversation with people who agree and disagree with your viewpoint. Communicate with the people who are responsible for shaping policies and creating laws. Vote.

I feel blessed to have been born an American citizen. I believe passionately in the ideals our forefathers had in creating this experiment we call democracy. I am extremely troubled with the state of our nation. I think it is better to take a stand and be felt wrong by some than to stand by silently. It is my desire to have the highest quality of life for all citizens of our nation. I feel we must work together for the common good or perish fighting each other. People around the world are dying fighting for the right to vote. It is essential that we each recognize our responsibility and vote. Those that serve in government must be made to understand that they are to do what is best for The UNITED States of America. They are not to act as puppets for those who pay the bills that put them in office and provide them with a lifestyle of comfort. We must know what the people elected to represent our interests - the interests of The UNITED States - are doing and hold them accountable. I ask you to join me in the campaign to Stamp Out Red/Blue States And Make America Purple!

Let's Make This The UNITED States Of America!

This site will be updated over the weekend. Leave a comment with links for blogs we can contact to advance the mission of Stamping Out Red States/Blue States To Make America PURPLE! Share our link with those in your sphere of influence.

Emails we have received from Congressional representatives will be posted. We need assistance from people in every state. CONSTUENCY is the key. If the Senator or Congressperson does not represent YOU, they have an "out". They do not consider it their responsibility to respond to people outside their state or district. There is not a problem, though, with accepting donations from people or groups EVERYWHERE.

Take your time, scroll down through this site. There is a library of useful information to help solve the problems in this country. We are interested in your feedback, your ideas, whatever referrals you may offer.

No matter how much time and effort one person puts forth it is not going to make a difference. Power comes when we join together, stand up and demand change!

First Time Visitor? THIS is the Make America Purple Editorial

MAKE AMERICA PURPLE

Red States and Blue States {Be sure to put the Red before the Blue} have become a mainstay of the American lexicon. Boil everything down and that is the root of the problem in that we should be Purple.

Not that everyone should share the same beliefs. But it needs to be about US not We and Them --- or We and Them. People are flocking to the far ends of the spectrum, not only abandoning the middle but seeking to ignore {at best} or deny {at worst} the existence of the other. One thing for sure, the agenda of whichever group you do not belong is likely being dismissed. There is no meaningful dialogue, no debate, no exchange of ideas. Let alone any effort to find common ground.

Further, we seem to have lost sight of a basic principle on which this nation was founded. While the person {man thus far} who lives in the White House is said to be the most powerful in the world we should not forget it is because he works for US --- ALL OF US --- Red and Blue and Blue and Red. And the people who work in that building with the big dome at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue {the ones who are empowered to choose the wage they will be paid} are charged with representing us.

Who is the "us" that is being represented in Washington, D.C. and {insert the name of your state's capital city}? It's the fanatics at the farthest ends of the spectrum that are setting the agenda and creating the environment in which we are expected to survive. The majority of us are silent in terms of what counts.

You (whomever you may happen to be} are more likely to have voted for the winner of American Idol than for the people who are charged with representing you in our government(s = local state and federal). You are most likely also not one of the people making telephone calls, sending emails, transmitting faxes or writing letters to the people responsible for creating policy and making law.

If you are happy with the way things are then you likely needn't do anything. {All indication are there are very few of us who are happy with the way things are.} Continue as you are and there will be no improvement. Although things could get worse.

Starting tomorrow declare REAL independence. Stop being part of the silent majority.

Engage in conversations about political matters with people you know and people you don't know. Don't have fear to express what you think or to stand up for what you feel. Don't forget that communication means listening not just talking and hearing. Listening and considering the value of information that is offered to you. It's not about being right or wrong; it's about finding what is best for the country as a whole. Not for whatever particular niche to which you belong.

Write an email, make a telephone call, fax, dare I say write a letter to someone who is representing you at the local state or national level each week. As this becomes a habit perhaps you'll contact one at each level on a weekly basis. You can make contact to support what that person is doing, to object to what they are dong or to suggest an adjustment in their stance to better reflect what is better for your community or your state or your country.

Don't be silent. Don't whine or bitch to people who don't have the power to do anything about the situation with no follow-up. Do encourage people {those who agree with you and those who don't} to write that email, make that call or send that letter.

One last thing. Whether you're happy or unhappy with the way things are do one thing ----------------------------VOTE.

Appearing at FOR YOUR SUCCESS

"Our" editorial is appearing in the business blog FOR YOUR SUCCESS.

This presentation of the editorial is interesting in that it begins with a quotation,

"The business of America is business"
- Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States

And is presented after this introduction,

FOR YOUR SUCCESS is not a political site. Politics, though, affects business as well as the quality of life for people at all levels of society. For that reason, this editorial comment courtesy of blogger Kilroy_60 is offered on "The State Of The States". FOR YOUR SUCCESS endorses the spirit of this commentary and encourage sharing of this message.

"Interests"

There's a section of the form used to create the profile appearing in this blog labeled as "Interests". I met the reqirement of length being no more than a given number of characters. My choice of how to express my "interests", though, does not conform to the framework designed to display that portion of the profile.

I have no interest in complying with a set of preconceived notions about how things should be done. Blindly following those in authority is one of the symptoms that have led us to the problem situations with which we are living.

Each of us must be able to exist as an individual. At the same time we must find a way to make a meaningful contribution to the shared whole. This is an example of what I am doing to address both of those issues.

These are my "Interests"...

My interests are as broad as the day is long. Make America Purple is a passion. Things can not progress as they are if our nation is going to be secure. We are not going to prosper as a society. Our streets are becoming a battleground. The children of this country are being poisened by mistakes of previous generations. We must come together and cooperate for the good of all. There is common ground on which we can all be comfortable...if we choose to create it and stand together. We are the greatest nation on Earth and yet at the same time a very troubled one. Let's fix it TOGETHER.
